MAN Lion’s Coach L Supreme

The coach highlight on the MAN stand is the MAN Lion’s Coach L Supreme, which is being shown for the first time as a 13.80 m six-wheeler with a D 26 Common Rail engine. This coach embodies the many years of brand experience in this sector and has established itself well even in its first year as a medium for the stylistic features in MAN's top version. The external distinguishing features of the MAN Lion’s Coach Supreme include stylistic elements which have for many years formed the positive image of MAN coaches. The first to strike the eye is the sickle-shaped anodised aluminium C post, which visually separates the driver's area from the passenger compartment and creates an extremely high-quality appearance.

This is reflected also in the stylised radiator grille with its traditional MAN design, which dominates the front panel and even from a fair distance identifies the vehicle as the most up-market representative of its range. The cladding of the series air-conditioner for hot countries with cold output of 35 kW too (this has now been moved forward to achieve a better weight distribution) sets the Supreme apart from the already familiar Lion's Coach. At the rear the design is rounded off by the prominent spoiler, which ensures good Cw values and a clean rear window with its Büssing lion logo. The fairings for the drive wheels are not only chic but also reduce spray; they can be found in different forms in both the two- and three-axle versions.

The coach on show has not only the MAN D26 Common Rail engine with 480 hp but also the very comfortable and sensitive MAN TipMatic 12-speed gearbox and an air-conditioner. It offers space for a total of 57 passengers in a luxurious interior with its bright, closed ceiling, which has really set this coach apart from the rest.

MAN Lion’s Coach L Supreme – Interior view

Since production of the MAN Lion's Coach started in 2002 over 2000 units of the two models – the Lion's Coach (two axles) and Lion's Coach L (three axles) – have been sold. In Germany, too, this coach is in high demand because of its great reliability and good price/performance ratio. Since 2003 about a quarter of deliveries have gone to Germany. The great success of the base range and the phasing out of the premium MAN Lion's Star model, which was finished in Germany, have caused NEOMAN to configure a high-value variant of the MAN Lion's Coach that is sure to quickly find friends among operators and passengers alike.

Inside the coach the elegance continues; in addition to root timber or silver applications in the cockpit and at other points, the main feature is the ceiling with its closed luggage racks and discreet indirect night lighting. Together with the bright and cheery ceiling colours, it soon gives passengers the impression that they are in an aircraft. The modern overhead units now contain sophisticated and long-lasting LED lamps.

In terms of safety, the new MAN Lion’s Coach Supreme is uncompromising. In addition to its torsionally resistant bodywork, it contains active and passive safety systems which make the driver's life easier and protect the passengers effectively if the worst comes to the worst. One series feature is the electronic brake system EBS 2 with a brake assistant and top-speed limiter MSC (Maximum Speed Control). Another is the electronic stability program ESP, which stabilises the vehicle in critical situations.
